Kay Mathiesen is an Assistant Professor with a research focus on Information Ethics. She received her Ph.D. in Philosophy at the University of California, Irvine. Her interdisciplinary work brings philosophical ethics to bear on issues such as equitable access to information, privacy, and intellectual property. Her current research project on "Informational Justice" seeks to develop and apply a theory of justice for people as seekers, sources and subjects of information. She is particularly interested in how we can promote informational justice for traditionally marginalized groups such as children, persons with disabilities, Indigenous peoples, persons in the developing world, and the poor.
